The best time to post on Instagram? How often and when you post on Instagram can influence your success on the app. Post too much and you oversaturate your audience, post too little and you may lose followers. Given that your audience wants to hear from you on the platform, it is important to set up a posting schedule that meets this wish of the platform and your users. Read on to learn how often your business should post on Instagram.

What is the best time to post on Instagram?
The best time to post on Instagram depends heavily on your target audience and followers. There are several elements to take into account when your business focuses on organic reach. Besides the time, the number of posts, the day of the post and the posting frequency are very important. BE Digital takes you through this process!
During Instagram’s 2021 Creator Weekend, Adam Mossieri (CEO of Instagram) was asked about the ideal number of posts for businesses to succeed on the platform. He said there was no fixed formula, but that an ideal strategy is to share a few in-feed posts per week and a few stories per day.

How do you know what the best posting frequency for Instagram is?
To find out what the best frequency is for posting on Instagram for your brand or business, you need to use the insight above and experiment; follower interaction will ultimately show what works. If engagement drops after a certain number of posts per week, for example, you may be posting too much. It is therefore important to keep an eye on when your followers are most active and which time zones they are in. Posting while your most engaged audience is asleep, for example, does not make much sense. Experiment with a posting schedule and use insights and analytics to see what works and what doesn't. Once the perfect number of posts has been found, build on it by planning content based on that frequency.
Best day to post on Instagram?
Besides the best time to post on Instagram, the day is not entirely unimportant either. Instagram is a platform that people mainly use in their free time. It uses an algorithm that shows the 'latest posts', but these are not displayed in chronological order. This makes it extremely important to post during peak hours for maximum engagement. As described earlier, it is important for you to consistently post once a day and share several stories. Ultimately, by testing for a long time and a lot, you can find out what works best for your business.

New feature on Instagram
In March 2022, Instagram announced it was adding a new feature to the platform that lets users view their feed the way they want. Instagram is introducing Favourites and Following, which let you choose for yourself what kind of content is shown in your feed.

What are Favourites and Following?
Your Instagram feed is a mix of photos and videos from people you follow, suggested posts and more. Over time, more recommendations are added to your feed based on your interests. Favourites and Following are new ways to view recent posts from the accounts you follow.
Favourites shows you the latest posts from accounts you choose, such as your best friends, favourite creators or favourite clothing brand. In addition to this view, posts from accounts in Favourites also appear higher in your home feed. Users of the platform can add up to 50 accounts to their favourites list. The accounts that are favourited are not notified of this, and the list can be changed at any time.
Following shows you posts from the people you follow. In both Favourites and Following, posts are displayed in chronological order, so you quickly stay up to date with recent posts. To use Favourites and Following, tap in the top left corner of your Instagram home page to choose what you see.
